Every cricket build — pitch, nets, or full ground — moves through the same seven phases: site evaluation and soil test, design, civil and base work, pitch preparation and curing, netting and fencing, lighting, and handover. What changes between build types is how long each phase takes, not the order.
- Site evaluation and soil test (1–3 weeks): a CBR and expansion-index soil test, ₹8,000–15,000, tells the designer whether you are sitting on black cotton soil that needs excavation or a thicker slab. Skipping this to save time is the single costliest shortcut in this entire process.

Why Turf Pitches Take So Much Longer to Cure

That gap — roughly 8–10 extra weeks — is the real reason a natural pitch and a matting pitch feel like different projects.
In plain terms: a natural pitch is a living surface. Monsoon does not just add rain days — it stalls the two phases that take the longest already: excavation and concrete curing. A waterlogged site cannot be compacted properly, and a fresh RCC pour exposed to heavy rain before it sets can crack or lose strength.

Questions to Ask Before You Commit to a Schedule
- Has a soil test actually been done for this site, and is the design waiting on that result before construction starts?
- Does the quoted timeline include the full 28-day concrete cure, or does work start on the surface earlier?
- For natural grass: does the schedule include a genuine 4–6 week curation period after grass is laid, before match play begins?
- Is the civil-work phase scheduled to avoid the peak monsoon window (July–September in North India), or does it run straight through it?
- What happens to the timeline if the site floods or the pour gets delayed — is there a written buffer, or is the launch date fixed regardless?
A realistic timeline, agreed before construction starts, is what stands between you and a rushed handover that costs more in the first year than it saved in the schedule.
